Frequently asked questions
What replaced Home Care Packages?
The Support at Home program replaced Home Care Packages on 1 November 2025. It introduced eight funding classifications instead of four, quarterly budgets, and a new care management structure. Existing Home Care Package recipients were automatically transitioned.
How is my Support at Home classification determined?
Your classification is determined by an assessment from an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) or Regional Assessment Service (RAS). They assess your care needs across daily living, mobility, health, and cognitive function. Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to start the process.
What is the 10% care management deduction?
Providers can deduct up to 10% of your total budget for care management — this covers coordinating your care plan, reviewing your goals, and managing services on your behalf. The deduction comes from your government subsidy before the remainder is applied to direct services.
Can I change Support at Home providers?
Yes, you can change providers at any time — you are not locked in. Contact My Aged Care to initiate a transfer. Your unspent quarterly budget transfers with you to your new provider.
How much unspent funding can I carry over each quarter?
Unspent Support at Home funds roll over from quarter to quarter within the same financial year. At the end of each financial year, carry-over limits apply. Your provider can advise on the current rules and help you plan spending to avoid losing unspent funds.
When are Support at Home budgets updated?
Classification budgets are indexed annually on 1 July each year. The updated amounts are published by the Department of Health and Aged Care in the Schedule of Subsidies and Supplements. Carevista updates this data automatically — the amounts shown on this page are always current.
